Sprekers
Ir.

Korte beschrijving van "Developments in high and low-energy astrophysics":
I will show recent results of astronomical satellites, launched by either NASA or ESA, to which SRON contributed significantly in the form of instrumentation. Examples are the X-ray satellites XMM-Newton and Chandra both launched in 1999 to which SRON contributed the Reflection Grating Spectrometer and the Low-Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer as well as the recently launched Herschel satellite to which SRON contributed the HIFI instrument. Examples of studies with the XMM-Newton and Chandra satellites are studies on Black Holes on all mass scales. Herschel will investigate how stars and galaxies formed and study how they continue to form in our own and other galaxies. Herschel will observe at wavelengths never covered before.Dr. L.L.A.
